Bureau meeting of the Euronest PA will take place on October 16, 2014. Among other issues, the question of holding next plenary session of the institution in Armenia will be discussed. Elkhan Suleymanov, Chairman of Azerbaijani Delegation to the Euronest PA, addressed a letter of objection to Euronest PA Co-Chairs and Bureau members regarding this issue. The letter reads as following:
Azerbaijani MP addresses European Parliament and co-chairman of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly
Chairman of Azerbaijani Delegation to the Euronest PA, member of the Azerbaijani Parliament Elkhan Suleymanov has addressed president and members of the European Parliament, co-chairmen of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly regarding certain information contained in the urgent draft motion for resolution tabled by German MP Alexander Graf Lambsdorff on behalf of the ALDE Group.
Address to PACE president
Mr. Martin Schulz
President of the European Parliament
Co-Chairmen of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly
Members of the European Parliament
Regarding certain information contained in the urgent draft motion for resolution
tabled by German MP Alexander Graf Lambsdorff
on behalf of the ALDE Group
A number of politicians in the European Parliament and other European organizations have recently launched biased campaigns and severe attacks against Azerbaijan, one of EU’s Eastern Partnership countries. German MP Alexander Graf Lambsdorff and his close adherents he represents are particularly active in this biased campaign. The draft motion for resolution tabled by Mr. Lambsdorff on behalf of the ALDE Group is a part of this campaign. Thus, design of the motion, reference to unverified facts, ignorance of geopolitical realities in the region, demand of severe and irrelevant sanctions against a sovereign state, and calls to resolve legal issues on political context proves that this document was obviously prepared hurriedly and biasedly and is purposefully directed against Azerbaijan.

Dear ladies and gentlemen,
PACE part-session in June was characterized with discussions on numerous interesting and important issues. Among these, motion for resolution demanding the application of sanctions against Armenia for its occupation of Azerbaijani territories, submitted under my authorship, and co-signed by 58 members representing 14 member-states, drew the attention of the Bureau on 27 June and was subject to tense discussions, but without decision.

Elkhan Suleymanov: The motion for resolution demanding the application of sanctions against Armenia will place PACE before a historical choice
As you know, USA, European Union, and Council of Europe applied sanctions against Russia following the developments in Ukraine. Even the Resolution 1990 (2014) adopted by PACE on April 10, 2014 suspended voting rights of Russian delegation and excluded it from its leading bodies. Undoubtedly, we seriously thought over the failure to apply similar sanctions against Armenia, which keeps Azerbaijani territories under occupation, for long and to show the support as in Ukraine’s case. The application of sanctions against Russia regarding the developments in Ukraine encouraged us to raise our just demands. Thus, a motion for resolution under my authorship was tabled in PACE on the application of similar sanctions against Armenia due to the fact that it keeps Azerbaijani territories under armed occupation. The motion reads: “Because of respect for one single standard in PACE, we call on the Assembly to adopt exactly similar sanctions against Armenian delegation in PACE, suspending voting rights and excluding it from leading bodies, until the end of illegal occupation of Azerbaijani territories.”

Mr. James Warlick is distinguished with sharing his “fantastic” and crazy “ideas” on social networks since his appointment of a Co-Chair from USA to OSCE Minsk Group. The USA Co-Chair of Minsk Group again achieved to take a “worthy” place on the center of attention.
