Management of “Betravel” company
(Betravel, Rue Victor Allard, 147 1180 Bruxelles)
regarding the information on the suggestion about travel to Nagorno Karabakh in 2012 spread by “Betravel” company
The information for subversive purposes was recently placed in the official website (http://www.betravel.be/optimum-travel.html) of “Betravel” company based in the Kingdom of Belgium (Betravel, Rue Victor Allard, 147 1180 Bruxelles, Tel +32 2/332 09 35; begin_of_the_skype_highlighting +32 2/332 09 35). The same information was also published in the newspaper “La tribune de Bruxelles”, as well as was placed in metal boxes for free newspapers and magazines at railway and subway stations, where there are a lot of people and was distributed among people.
The website of the company suggests to travel to Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh on September 15-27, 2012. At the same time, the website seriously falsificated historical facts, describes Nagorno Karabakh as an independent state, and ancient Albanian temples of XIII century as Armenian churches.
Dear Mr. Ambassador!
The information was broadcasted on www.modern.az, www.azadlig.org, www.bizimyol.az, and other websites that through your office of Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan your country is officially organizing, or at least actively supporting, a politically inspired event that will take place in Baku on November 4th. Personally I deeply regret to this news. The NGO “For the sake of Human Rights” is organizing that day a conference on the issue “To asses and to ask the release of political prisoners on the basis of UN and CE criteria.”
For more than two years the Azerbaijani Delegation to the Council of Europe is asking to start within PACE an open and transparent debate on those criteria, unfortunately without success. Some NGO’s, together with Azeri opposition parties, by all means want to avoid this debate and appeal on foreign countries and their ambassadors to give them support, not to have this open debate.
Azerbaijan is not a ground for the application of the concept of political prisoner, which has no clear international – legal nature and criteria
According to the information of several websites on October 7-8, 2011, the agreement has been concluded between the Public Union “For the sake of Human Rights” and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway on the realization of the project “To define political prisoners in Azerbaijan and to create their database on the basis of UN and CE criteria”. The agreement has been signed by Mr. Eynulla Fatullayev, Chairman of the Public Union “For the sake of Human Rights” and Mr. Marit Halswick, Head of the Department for Eurasia and Regional Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
